Hi folks,

I've just been in to my local Ford dealership to check on my order for my new B-Max and it seems I've got it ordered just in time!

The dealer says that production of the B-Max stops this September (2017) and there is no mark 2 coming.

Really sad news. I've lived these cars since launch but only got my first in November 2016. When I saw the range had been 'streamlined' and up-specc'd I had a feeling that Ford might be killing the model off. That's why I got my order in asap.

What am I getting? Titanium Navigator in blazer blue with the light medium stone interior,
convenience pack, rear camera pack, heated seats and Active City Stop. I would have preferred Deep Impact Blue but that would have meant I couldn't have the stone interior.

I'm also looking to do a factory visit to Craiova. I've been in touch with Ford Romania and they are happy for that to happen. Just got to sort out the details now.

Sorry that my first post if the year is bad news, folks. But on the bright side, it means all our cars will become rare and fabulous!

Andy

Glad you've got it back and yes, it does sound as if they didn't diagnose it properly first time round, costing you money and putting you at risk from a recurrence of the problem. Keep us informed as to their response to your letter.

I know what you mean about the Fiesta. My son had a 59 plate, which was a nice car all told, but yes, it seemed really low down and vulnerable. We had an 07 Focus which felt a little less like a go cart, but I love the driving position in the B Max, which makes it feel like a much bigger car and gives a far better view of the road. If we can escape the infamous Powershift issues I think we're going to enjoy owning it.

Yes, the Fiesta is lower than the B Max, but it does handle a lot better. It is also available with the Ecoboost engine.

Ive not driven a Fiesta since I replaced mine with the B Max in January, but have a track day booked in one in August, so it will be interesting to see how it feels having got used to theB Max.

I'm ashamed to say that I didn't think about anything other than basic handling when I bought our B Max. Yes, I anticipated the usual Ford small car offerings, being a decent ride that erred on the firm side, the truest, most direct steering available in a budget car allied with a comfortable driving position, but never expected to hurl the thing about like the Focus ST I intended to buy myself as a retirement present and never managed to afford to buy. So stuff like handling, where the term refers to the driving experience during anything other than the average trip to the shops and back, tends to pass me by.

I went for the auto because I want my wife to start driving again, something she hasn't done since we sold our old Renault Scenic in 2008. She can't cope with a clutch pedal due to arthritis and the B Max Powershift, being compact and clutch pedal free, seems an ideal reintroduction to the delights of motoring. I don't expect her to test the car's handling any more than I do, unless she actually enjoys driving it. ;0)

I have so far had no more problems but was pretty stressed driving down to Heathrow. I am awaiting the after care sales manager to ring me regarding what can be done about this issue so I hope that all will be well and I will have nothing else to report apart from a lovely driving exprerience with my B max.

Yes, my local Ford dealership have confirmed this. They tell me the B max ceases production next month because they don't want it competing with the Fiesta Active arriving next month. Bad move by Ford I reckon.....who would want a Fiesta branded SUV?
Better bet would to have used the platform but launched it as a new B max !
Of course the good news is that when a model gets to the end of its production run there are always loads of great deals with extras chucked in as sales booster, as with the 2016 Ka. I get a new Ka Zetec with extras for just £8000 last year. Don't get rushing for a new B max just yet; hang on until late November. That's when the real deals will be about.
Good luck!

As mentioned in my previous post on this subject. In the crazy world of Ford sales and marketing it makes perfect sense to have an SUV under the Fiesta brand thus increasing overall sales figures for the vehicle line. I believe that thete is a similar plan for the Cmax.

Now reported by Ford of Europe president. So it is now official, the B-Max is no more:

The baby MPV has been indirectly replaced with the updated EcoSport SUV according to president of Ford Europe Steve Armstrong.""We are in the middle of a really strong product change over phase,"" he told Auto Express at the Frankfurt Motor Show. ""We've now finished production of the B-MAX and that has has now been replaced with the EcoSport.

I do quite like the look of the ecosport though and will be interested to see how well it comes out in the press and road test reviews.

I have a feeling that it will be an improvent on the b max ( which i still like by the eay)

If properly priced, it could be a good seller.Edited by: cianpars
