Looking to buy winter tyres for BMax 1.6 diesel. ( 195/55/16) . So far only seem to be able to locate budget tyres - Nexon, Matador, Maxis and Kleber. Would be far happier with a premium brand such as the Michelin Alpin A4.

Any one any idea as to the real cost of a space saver spare wheel for the BMax Titanium, dealer tells me it is close on to £400 all in; and tried to sell me a 15 inchsteel wheel along with the rubber. Imagine making a claim to the insurance company with 3 x 16 inches, and 1 x 15 inches under the car !!!

Ford also suggested fitting 205/55/16 winter tyres as these are more widely available; phoned my insurance company and got the feeling they were going to increase my premiumjust for suggesting the idea !!!

Any one know whether any 16 " or 15 "space saver wheel with four holes would fit on to the B Max ?

Not had much help in here as regards a space saver; however, I found one ( had a choice of three ) on breakeryard.com which is a company that circulates customers requirements around the country. Within 2 hours of filling in the application a firm from Romford F P S ( Ford Peugot Spares ) contacted me and for an inclusive charge of £48 including VAT and delivery delivered the wheel in 48 hours. The delivery charge was £5, and this was included in the £48... !!!! Classified as unused, the wheel looked brand new as did the Pirelli tyre fitted on it. My quote from Ford for a new wheel was not far short of £400.Well worth making a note of this company.

ok folks here is the info i put on the site last October-

ok folks.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">there are no 16" steel wheel to be had for the Bmax.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">Base model 15" steel's are the only option.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">The Bmax is the first Ford in this country to use 'Globally Standard Wheelattachments' so you must use the Golbal wheel nuts -NOT THE OLD STYLE AND NOT THE ALLOY NUTS THAT COME WITH THE CAR.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">The ford dealer said that the ABS system may have to be re calibrated for the smaller wheels.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">BUT
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">I have it on good authority that the 15" wheel with winter tyre on is the same diamiter as 16" with standard tyre on. Taller side wall on smaller rims.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">So no need to change the abs system.
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">the rims are £59
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">nuts £71p
<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">tyre from £65 - 120

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">Ordered winter tyre's on Steel 15" rims from MyTyres.co.uk

£445 for complete set inc rims with expensiveMichelin Alpin rubber (cheaper rubber isavailable).

Thought i would get these as i keep the car 5-6 years and they would last thelifetime(given3-4 months use per year).

You MUST get the global steel wheel nuts from Ford if you have alloys fitted as standard.

Bring on the SNOW!

I can full recommend mytyres.co.uk come from Germany delivered to your door.
Mine were excellent last winter and just blown them up for putting on in December.

I have just obtained a 15 inch space saver, and have been given a set of four wheel nuts suitable for a steel wheel should I need to use it. Will these be Golbal or should I see the dealer ?

hi
just got winter tyres on my car yesterday and this morning after about 10 min driving I got a warning about the tyrepressur was low - but it was'nt low - but it is other wheels/tyres (15") than my summer wheel/tyre (17").

According to the manual of the car I can calibrate this in the setup on the car - have anybody tried that.??

Just sorted some winter tyres, without the aggro of steel rims.Checked a few places but then thought I would give my Ford dealer a chance. Quoted me the tyre's at cost, then asked why I wanted steel rims. Told him it saves the aggro of changing the tyre's over.

He then told me that if I buy the tyre's from them, they will change them winter/summer free of charge as and when it gets cold/warm. Brill

Saves any calibrating, just pop in and have a coffee while they change them.
Well done Polar Ford in Barnsley

Just mounted winter set: steel rims 15", and ContiWinterContact TS 850 in size 195/60 R15
No problems at all. Ordered all from BilligAlu.dk
Also bought Conticontact ts850 but on black Borbet LV4 alloy - DKR 5600 for alloy, tyre and so they were put on my car. It looks great with with black alloy to a black car.
