Hello everyone

I just got a new 1.6 tdci zetec race red bmax so far loving it.

Miles per gallon are not as good as they say. I've done 250 miles in firstweek at very steady driving and only getting 47 mpg.

Does anyone now how to get cheaper than the £600 ford quoted me for roof rails and bars.

47 m.p.g. is just not good enough !! My 1.6 returns at least 60 m.p.g., whether around town, or on a long distance journey. Only last week I did 500 miles in one day, 430 on motorways, and returned 64 m.p.g. Check your tyre pressures, I run at 36 psi, and occasionally put your computer on to instant consumption, and see if you can get a reading of 99.9 m.p.g. when you are cruising on a downward hill.

Make sure your brakes are not binding, park on a slight slope and note if the car will move when in neutral and no brakes applied. Also reset your av fuel consumption to zero, it may well be that the car was raced on delivery, and the engine left running for a long period on its PDI, both of these being bad news.

Fitting a roof rack of course will not help consumption.
