Hi,

My wife currently has a Clio which she's due to change and with us having another baby on the way she's been looking at the B Max as the doors look a massive appeal.

I'm just after a bit of advice on what to look out for when looking at second hand cars, any common faults? What's the service schedule like.. cambelt etc. It'll likely be a 1.4, 2012/13, probably 35-50k miles.

Any help much appreciated, apologies if this is asked all the time but I had a good look through and couldn't see anything.

I would steer clear of early cars, they were still learning how to make them at the new factory, hence numerous faults reported here. Also don't go near an auto!!!!!!!

If you can get the last stage clutch/gearbox mod, under warranty, the auto becomes a good car.

Thanks for the replies. It would definitely be a manual box.

What issues do the early cars have, are they likely to be ones that have been ironed out by previous owners?

Have a look on the 'honest john' website for car reviews section - you'll get a pretty much straighforward review and also the 'whats good whats bad' section plus problems reported etc
