I took delivery two days ago of a Moondust Titanium 1.0 (123) B-Max. I was very impressed with the performance on my Test drive and, so far, with our new car. Unfortunately just after taking a side road to go for a quick drive we found that the local council had closed the road so we had to divert down the muddiest road I have ever seen. The B-Max ended very brown!Result SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) insisted on a complete makeover. Such is life. My question is...Would mud flaps have prevented some of the mess?.

I don't have mud flaps but I'm sure they will help as I had them on other cars .

If you get them just be wary of how they mount on your car as they can be a means of trapping mud and damp in places you don't want

Standard mudflaps from Ford are quite small, however they do protect the sides a little. The back always gets dirty, something to do with the airflow around the tailgate. Mudflaps probably protect better fromstone problems and chipping.
