I'm very new to the B-Max. Please can anyone explain to me the dull red light that glows in the front passenger foot-well? I find nothing in the handbook.

Simply called "ambient lighting". Gives out a small amount of red light, nothing exciting really !

I must say that i like the ambient lighting, but it looked better in the fiesta wirh the red panel lighting. Would prefer blue in the b max but cant be bothered to change the bulbs.

You can turn it off, in Settings, if you want.

Thanks for that, all of you! I have yet to see it after dark. I'll go out and enjoy the ambience tonight!

Night vision is enabled by the presence of a protein calledrhodopsinin
night vision cells, Another type of cell with another prrotein provides colour vision. You lose night vision because white light breaks down the protein. Red light of a suitable intensity does not. Submarines on operations switch to red light so the commander can maintain night vision should he need to use the periscope

Quite true Keith, but the ambient lighting is probably toodim to make much difference to the effectiveness of the rods or the cones.
