Normally, when I fill my tank, it reads 460 - 480 to empty which roughly corresponds with the 45/46 mpg I am getting with a 10 gallon tank.

The other day, I filled up and the gauge read 576 miles to empty which I thought a bit strange.

However, before filling up, I had got low on fuel and did a 100 mile trip at a pretty constant 55/60 mph slipstreaming trucks a lot of the way to ensure I got home without filling up at motorway prices.

I wondered if the miles to empty gauge night be taking into account my most recent mpg, though I didn't think the system was as clever as this. Any thoughts?
