Described as a "new way to help drivers stay more focused on the road," the Do Not Disturb While Driving feature uses the iPhone's various sensors to detect when its owner might be driving. When this occurs, the phone automatically silences notifications so the screen stays dark.

It's coming in the next version of iOS (11).

I have it now on IOS11. It prompts you when you're in the car to switch it on. Basically silences calls and alerts unless it's connected to bluetooth. Left it switched off for now.

I guess it would do the same if I were a passenger, or a passenger on a bus or tube train ;-(

then of course it means it has location/accelerometer etc sensors active which will reduce battery life.
am I the only one who can ignore a phone ringing while driving?
(ps I have a phone that could do bluetooth to the car, but haven't connected it that way either)

Yes, if you're a passenger or train etc. it will come on then. Exactly I don't see the point, if you're the type of person who can't ignore it while you're driving, you're not going to bother much with this are you.
