Is it normal for the heater to remain active even when turned off? I notice warm air still coming through the vents until I turn the temperature knob down.

If you mean when you are moving then yes, it's normal.
Air is forced through the vents in the scuttle and down the tubes into the car with the forward motion of the car.
Same thing happens in the van i drive, to stop it simply close the air vents.

Okay, thanks Wiggy. So it's heat of the engine and not the heater? As I say turning the heater down cools the flow from the vents, this is when it's turned off

Exactly, it can be a pain sometimes but all i do is either turn the heat dial to the blue section or close all the vents.

Certainly the fan noise changes when you press the recirc button though whether the speed changes, I'm not sure. It all seems to work fine though.
