Evening All,
I'm excited to say that we ordered a 1.0L B-Max Zetec in Panther Black with privacy glass 3 weeks ago and have been eagerly awaiting its arrival to replace our ageing family car - an 8-year old C-Max which we're p/xing.
The biggest draw for us was the elevated driving position, the Ecoboost engine (and by association cheaper VED, insurance and fuel costs) and the rear sliding doors for manoeuvring the kids (3 and 1) in and out. As this car will be our main family runaround, we wanted something cheap to run but roomy enough so that a young family would survive a longer journey together.
Our car finished being built on 24th October. And that's where its stayed - or so we've been told. It hasn't been gate-released yet, so I can only assume we've been caught up in the remedial work Ford has had to do on the electrics and engine software update (details elsewhere on the forum).
This isn't too much of a problem - I would prefer to receive a car ready to go rather than face any kind of recall - but it has detracted from the whole 'buying a new car' experience. We originally had an estimated delivery date of November 17th. Reading other buyers' experiences, I see that some had their cars delayed by 3 or 4 weeks, so fingers crossed we're looking at delivery in time for Christmas (! Worst case scenario).
In the meantime, I've been getting my fix here or through reading the newer road-tests that have started trickling out again over the last week or so. We still haven't seen any B-Max's on the roads down south, although we've trained our 3-year old to keep his eyes peeled ! If people have time, it would be great to see some photos uploaded of your cars ! I'll pop back with an update once we have one. In the meantime:
Happy motoring all !
