Can anyone answer this simple question: does BMAX or does BMAX not support Ford Sync AppLink ?

Seems like a very simple thing to google, but there are 4+ different sync versions, all called sync-something, and this seems to be different from USA and Europe.

What version numbers should I have to support app link, how do I find the apps, and how do I install them ?

There is countless YouTube videos online demonstrating AppLink but none that supply actual info.

I have the 10-digit keypad version , but not the sony dab radio.

That web page take you to a 'Compatibilty' page in which you can enter your vin.

That may answer the OP's question.

http://www.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/SYNC-and-Bluetooth-Support/MobileCompatibility

The result I got when I entered the vin of my car which is to be delivered this month was:

"We are unable to identify the connection system installed in your vehicle"

You can also contact the Ford B-MAX team on:

01277253000

They have always eventually replied to me although there may only now be one man in the 'team'. He rang me after he returned from holiday!

No, this does not answer my question although I now know that I (apparently) have SYNC 1 2012 installed.

I am impressed about the massive amount of tests they did at Ford.

But about the APPLINK which was my question - NO information.

Hope someone can point me to factual information about this.

Thanks

You could check by following the instructions posted previously.

However, If you do not see a, SYNC-Apps > option below the SYNC-Settings > then i would suggest you do not have it.

If your vehicle is not yet equipped with SYNC AppLink, it may be available to you as a software update.

The B-MAX is not listed on this Ford page:

http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync/sync-applink/sync-applink-overview.html

That page also links to app sources.

BTW, We are trying to help.

Hi all,

Just so you are aware, my new B-Max does indeed have AppLink and the menu item above. I have also tested it by at least connecting to Spotify (one of the few compatible apps) with my Android phone.

I don't use Spotify (I prefer my own library of 80k songs which I transfer some of to my phone) so once I tested it I uninstalled it again.

Besides, because I don't have a data package with my phone (pay as you go) I will never want to drive along listening to music off the internet when I have DAB, Bluetooth, CD, USB and Aux in the car.

So - B-Max can have SYNC, despite what the ford page says.

Regards

Gary
