Is the B-Max a fairly unique car i wonder.

Looking around on the roads and streets in our surroundings none can be seen, none whatsoever.
Numerous other new Fords,mostly Fiesta,few C-max,few Sierra,hardly any Focus.

Have not been able to find total production figures for the B-Max,does anyone know?

I rather like the fact it is unique,i llike driving something out of the ordinary.
Have driven some SAABs in the past, perhaps this explains what i mean.
Have noticed that the B-Max is being watched with interest, people cannot properly place the car in their mindset.
Is this your experience also?

Cheers,

Paul.

I dont know the total production figures, but the current figures for UK indicateabout 53,500, on the road
with just under 20,000 being auto

and only 163 being the studio (base) model
and about 530 of the 140ps colour edition ;-)

edit:
and just over 4000 are diesel

Sold in Holland between 2012 and 2018 to date total 9,219 cars. For 2018 to date: 99 cars.

Marketshare 2013: 0.75 pct.
Marketshare 2017: 0.28 pct.

In comparison,VW Golf:

Sold in 2017: 10,113 cars.
Sold in 2018 to date: 2,209 cars.

Not a fair comparison,i know, the VW Golf is the universal car for everybody overhere, also used by lease companies in massive numbers.

In essence i think Ford have poor advertising policies.
Marketshares for all makes are very small, there is a constant need to make consumers know that you have a nice car on sale.
Potential clients do not come to showrooms for coffee.

It's kinda cool driving a car that is not as common as muck. It does turn heads, I have noticed that.

In my younger years i wanted to drive a head-turner.Not so much the obligatory BMW 6 cylinder but something which is pretty rare.
I ended up with SAAB.
My first car was a 99L,some other 99s followed, these cars had a modified 2 ltr 100 HP Triumph engine.
Thence i fulfilled an old dream, the last series 96GL with a Ford (!) Taunus V4 engine.
The car was great to drive, perfect seats, wide tyres, steardy leather steeringwheel, gearlever on the steeringcolumn, but one big chunk of corrosion everywhere!
The last series were built in Finland and story goes poor Russian steel was used in the production.
Nevertheless would love to have one in fully restored condition.
The SAAB museum in Sweden has the very last one on display.

The B-Max is a worthy alternative.

Must add that the last series 96 in Holland were having slightly different alloywheels as compared to the car in the USA clip. Also the Dutch version had a much stronger spoked steeringwheel.

By June 2017: 267535 units were produced.

2013: 68339 (peak of production).

My source: https://www.auto-bild.ro/headline/adio-b-max-126534.html

2014: 53889 according to http://www.gds.ro/Bani-afaceri/2017-08-17/31-august,-ultima-zi-in-care-ford-mai-produce-b-max-la-craiova/Edited by: vdragoslav

The factory had the capacity to produce 300000 B-MAX units every year, so I can understand the Ford's great expectations, now that I own such a versatile vehicle.
So Ford made in exactly five years (more than) five times less B-MAXes than they were prepared to... :-?
I'm terrible sorry - and pretty angry - for the Romanians who have families with children and chose since 2012 other cars!.. A neighbour with two daughters (age 6 and 4) bought a few months ago a Toyota Auris (hybrid) and another neighbour, who has a 6 years old boy, bought a second Skoda, the Rapid model, as a Christmas present or so...Edited by: vdragoslav

Although this confirms the numbers found yesterday, it is not true to the end, because they written that from September to December 2017 there were made a number of cars... and WE KNOW that the last B-MAX begun its existence on the first of September. :-?Edited by: vdragoslav

No need to be angry.Market shares in the car industry are very small.
In Holland many different cars from all makers are being sold, marketshares mostly only a few percent, often less than 1 percent!
In Holland there is extreme competition around the Euro 20,000 mark for socalled familycars, another benchmark is around Euro 11,000 for small city cars.
I am sure Ford will be making other Ford cars in Romania in future.

those numbers are based on sales date, so they could easily be right

You are right, of course! :>
My only thought was to PRODUCTION alone, even though I've SEEN words like "sales" in the web site's address... :"> It just didn't "click" in my head! :))

Mr. Stolk, it's not just I'm complaining in the workers' name for their job or something... It's a mixture, in fact, based on how practical the B-MAX is, knowing that Romanians altered the Renault 12 so much, as it barely could have been recognised (look for Dacia 1300, 1310, 1410, 1307, Liberta etc.)
B-MAX was conceived as a real MPV, so no need for adaptations.
Still.., in 2017 I've been talking to many taxi drivers that had no idea that B-MAX even exists, not mentioning the unawarness of it being built here... :(

The same plant already produces the EcoSport that I'm not interested in at all.

I am sorry to wake you up but the B-Max was not just produced in Romania for the local market.Instead it was produced in your country because the labourcosts are low in your country.
This is the usual motive for carmakers to produce cars in far away places.

Both my wife and i drove a Ford KA II,produced in Poland in the same factory as the Fiat 500.
nothing wrong with those cars.

Building a car factory is a very expensive affair, let alone for the robots and other electrics.
As such,i believe that no matter what happens also in future cars will be produced in your country.
We have seen the same thing happening in Holland.
The factory which produced the good old DAF cars and later the Volvo 343 is now producing Mini cars for BMW.

The car market differs from country to country.
In Holland, the lease market is dominated by the VW Golf, the taxi market strangely enough is still dominated by Mercedes, taking a taxi in Holland is very expensive!

When it comes to local advertising indeed the different makes have different strategies, pending on current marketshare and sales goals for the future.
VW hardy ever advertise, the cars sell thermselves.
Ford advertise with discount actions,no good if you ask me,the KA Plus was not advertised at all!
Fiat hardly ever advertise, the brandname is almost invisible.
The Japanese are very modest with advertising, their cars are simply too expensive.
Dacia have smart TV commercials, focussing on price, very important in Holland!
Hyundai/KIA are increasing marketshare, their cars are getting better and better.

Of course you are right! How could that be?..

I was expressing my frustration caused by my conationals - it almost leads to buying another B-MAX, a second hand one!?..! :-? This was 8000 sharp and was sold for 8450 euros:https://www.olx.ro/oferta/ford-b-max-IDa3UJn.html

I'd buy and REMAP one! :>

Another strange thing to me is that - I was told by the dealer and a few others that know exactly how things work - no B-MAX was produced on stock; so how comes there still are a few NEW on sale?..?
