Had my b max a few years now, had someone crash in to me and the insurance replaced the door, after it was fixed I had a errors message up saying the door was open which it was not. Took it back to the garage and they fixed it in minutes roll on another year and the message came back and went to lock the car this morning and its now refusing to lock stating that the drivers door is open. Any ideas before I get charged an arm and a leg from Ford?

My suspicion here is that when they replaced the door, something was out of alignment. The garage who replaced the door tweaked something which stopped the sensor activating for a while and it's now gone out of alignment again.

I think you have 2 choices;

1. Get the garage to realign the door. They did it before and they can do it again. Any body repair work should be remedied within a 2 year period if it is faulty. You should try to get them to do it FOC argue if they try to charge you. or;

2. Turn off the sensors in the settings menu. With an older car, I'm not sure it is worthwhile spending money to fix these things. e.g. I have a leaky tyre valve and it's easier and cheaper for me to just replace it with a standard one and turn off the sensor.

Good luck with whatever you do. Anyone else have any ideas?

hi cianpars… you are spot on with the door...regarding your leaky valve..i take it it has wheel sensors fitted..if they are trying to charge for the sensor they are ripping you off..the valve can be swapped and sensor reused..it detaches from the valve with a torx screw..we charge about £10

Sadly it's the bottom latch that had failed, rang Ford for the part and it's two month back log, I now have two months where I cannot lock my car. I've also looked through my car menu and sadly I have nothing that enables me to change how thr car locks. Anyone got any ideas?

the three button 'teardrop' fobs also have a backup key, press the buttons on the sides near the keyring attachment, remove the ford logo panel, and the key blade is available.

I have the tear drop key and the blade does lock the drivers side door only but dose not lock any other door. I have now replaced both latches and still no joy so it's looking like it's electrical fault
