Just had my first MOT at 28,500 miles and been told that my front pads are only 20% worn. 2.2mm on my front tyres, so I will replace them at 30k. Rear tyres have loads of tread still.
Obviously the way one drives will impact on tyres and brakes, but I still think that some garages are less than honest about the need for early replacement of pads and disks.

|smiffyone||i have just had my mot done after 23000mls and they said i needed new disc and pads on the front, i thought the garage were trying to con me its a good job i didn't have a barny with them as they have always been good, so it seems your all getting no joy from fords as ive always had fords this might be my last|

|pmoody005||I have been driving 30+ years - and was told I had to replace the brake pads and discs on my 2 1/2 year old B-Max at 17,000 miles. Not covered by Warranty because it is "Wear and tear" - never happened before and I believe something is not up to standard with these brake pads - cost to replace was £310. I had a conversation with Fords and they just went back to the garage and said same - it is wear and tear - no way - I drive to station and back - this car is not heavily used. I do not brake that hard.|

|Bmaxlux||Ok just wanted to compare costs in different countries, I live in luxembourg and my cost was roughly the same. And I find it pretty expensive! Danke!|

I had mine changed last month for the first time at 82000km (due to a crack found in a pad during a service) for a cost of 400‚¬
I need to confirm if it was pads and discs but I think it was both.

|Bmaxlux||Hi, my b max is now 3 years old and 40000 km under the belt. I just had front brakes (disks and pads) replaced. The cost for doing this was about GBP 400.. If you had yours changed is be very interested in knowing how much it cost?|

Not sure about you but my motorway driving on the M32 involves more braking than on any other roads

Thank you for your response, I also do a lot of motorway driving so I'm not sure why my discs are damaged?

|elmo||I am on 80,000km and have been advised that I will need my first pad change in the next 10-20,000km but I do a lot of motorway driving and tend to be a gentle braker...|
