Bonnet release

Hello, the bonnet is stuck shut on my 2014 B max. Does anyone know how to release the bonnet without using the release lever? I don't think the cable is snapped as I've tried pulling it with pliers and there is a resistance, but I can't get the catch to move. To make matters worse the battery is flat so I can't even drive to a garage.

Thanks

Have you tried getting someone to pull the release handle while you gently press down repeatedly on the bonnet ?
It sometimes works.
Failing that you will have to try and use a screwdriver to move the locking mechanism of the bonnet, entry may be possible through the radiator grill but be careful not to catch the radiator.
The last time i had to do this was in 1989 and vehicle security is much tighter now than it was back then so the screwdriver method may not be possible.

you should be able to trickle charge the car through the obd socket. beware it has a fuse so don't try to charge at more than a few amps. (ie a starter pack would blow the fuse)

Thanks Gremlin. Ordered a solar trickle charger and obd adaptor from Halfords to pick up tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Wiggy, tried the pressing down on the bonnet to no avail, seems like it's stuck fast.

It can happen to anyone.
When I had a MK2 Escort, my mate and I were doing a routine service (oil. plugs, points etc) 6 months after it had had an engine rebuild by a main dealer. After we put it back together according to the manual to start up again - no joy. Eventually called out RAC and they diagnosed problem as distributor fitted 180 degrees out! So it was sparking at the wrong cylinder. Thus the manual was right, but we didn't mark the leads with the cylinder before taking them out of the cap.

Rats!

@srl1407
Have you managed to open the bonnet yet ?
If so what method did you use ?
It may help others who encounter the same issue.
( Or was the release mechanism just frozen with the cold weather )
