Twin dash cams

A friend has offered me his twin pack dash cams, one front and one rear.
He bought them without fully reading the installation tips and now wishes he hadn't bothered.
The reason is that the rear one has a wire that has to be connected to the reversing light bulb connection.
When reverse is selected the rear camera overrides the front camera and it acts as a reversing camera, all other times it's a normal rear facing camera. The issue is that my friends car is can bus based, as is the B-max.
As far as i know, if this wire is left not connectd, the camera could still be used as a normal camera but without the reverse parking camera function ( but i'm not certain ).
Question is - If i did buy the cams and install them, and connected to the reverse light would it throw up an error ?

It shouldnt as I dont think the bmax throws any errors when it comes to lights.
I have had break light bulbs go out and never seen any errors.

You could connect it with a inline connector and if it does throw any errors then you could just remove the camera wire and the line will not be broken.

Well !
It seems i will never know if the cams would have worked.
As my mate brought them down from his spare bedroom he dropped the box which promptly tumbled end over end down the stairs.
Result = Front cam smashed screen, rendering them both useless.
My mate was not a happy bunny.
Ah well !
