Passenger wing mirror replacement

Morning all, driving back from dropping the daughter off at school I clipped another wing mirror and the cover came off but upon looking I think some of the casing is damaged as I can't get the cover back on.

I can see some online sites offering a replacement unit for 80 odd quid for a non-oem (powerfold). Does anyone have any instructions for removing the old unit and fitting the new one?

the top cover of the mirror surround does clip into place, but it can be fiddly the first couple of times that you do it.
I believe the top is the same as that on a fiesta, but the base is different.

ps the pictures in the owners manual are wrong!
