This is a common criticism of the Ford petrol ecoboost engine. I am now using 99 RON fuel and am getting in the mid forties MPG once the engine reaches working temperature. On long journeys I have seen 55mpg on the computer but that requires a VERY gentle foot on the gas pedal and coasting down hills in gear. Do not exceed 65 mph. . It hasn't deterred me though because I love the engine characteristics.

My 1.0 123 bhp B Max is nearly 2 years old and done 19k miles. Never reset the average mpg since new. Showing average of 46.1 now, so pretty pleased with the overall fuel economy.

B Max Titanium X 1.0 125 bhp in Magnetic with built in SatNav and rear sensors.

I purchased a secondhand BMax in August 2020 after parting with my beloved Sante Fe which was no longer practical to keep after the death of my disabled husband in June , I love the B Max but Iím not finding the fuel consumption that good , itís diesel and at the minute itís showing that Iím getting 26 mpg that surely canít be right ? Iíve just done a 300 mile round trip so it should be more economical than that ? Normally it only does short journeys but I was expecting much better performance! Or do I need to reset this ? If so how do I do it ? If itís a true representation I was getting better mileage from my 2.5 ltr Sante fe !

You probably just need to re-set the trip reading. Press and hold the stalk to re-set. See -

Usually a good service and fuel system clean will get the mpg back up to a respectable level.

1 litre Zetec Turbo petrol 74Kw / 100 Ps. as in my avatar.
