Spanner icon

B MAX spanner icon showing on the instrument panel but can not find any reference in the handbook. The car is now due its 1st Mot and is now 12 months since its last Ford service.
Although the mileage has only increased by 3k in the last 12 months.... (13k) total. I'm presuming the icon has been time triggered rather than the recommended 12k service interval.
As there is a concession regarding Mot renewal I would prefer to extend the service time but wonder what consequence driving with the icon may have. Can I reset the icon?
Any advice would be welcome.

Yes, it can be reset. I need to know the year of your car.

The criteria for the service warning lamp is a combination of cold starts, mileage and number of days since last reset.
This is the reset procedure for 2017 MY,

Turn on ignition without staring the engine by holding the push start button for 2 secs.
Press and hold down the accelerator and brake pedal at the same time.
After approx. 3 secs something like 'Service Oil Reset in Prog' is displayed.
Continue to hold both pedals down for at least 25 secs or until the display reads 'Service: Oil Reset complete.
Release the pedals and turn off the ignition.

If it doesn't work first time, try the procedure once more.
I hope this does the trick for you!
